RAWALPINDI, May 2: A special flight with 60 Pakistani illegal immigrants on board, deported by the UK authorities, landed at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Wednesday.
The move was a part of the UK’s new campaign to cut the number of people working there illegally.
Among them were five women who belonged to Attock, Lahore, Sargodha and Karak. The rest belonged to Chakwal, Mirpur, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Kotli, Sialkot, Sahiwal and Attock.
They were handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) anti-human trafficking cell for further investigation.
A senior official of the cell, Tanveer Shah said majority of those deported who arrived at around 11.30am were students working there illegally.
However, as none of them faced criminal charges, all were allowed to go to their home towns, after brief interrogation.
