KARACHI, May 3: A former army man was shot dead and two others, including a police constable of the special branch, were wounded in Frontier Colony within the remit of the Pirabad police station on Thursday morning, police said.

The incident took place when the three men going on two motorcycles reached Rabbani Mohalla in Frontier Colony, Qasba Colony, where unidentified men ambushed them, the police added.

Saiful Mulk, 40, died on the spot, while Ismail and Abdul Ghani were wounded, they said. After the incident the attackers managed to flee.

The police took the body and the wounded men to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment.

DSP Tariq Malik said that Saif was a resident of same area where the incident took place and hailed from Peshawar.

He was going along with his friends when the unidentified men targeted them, they said.

The police suspected personal enmity as a possible motive behind the incident and said that at the time of the incident the special branch police constable was in civil dress.

Later the police handed over the body to heirs. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

Two honour killings

A young man and a girl were killed in an apparent incident of honour killing in Sultanabad in the limits of the Manghopir police station on Thursday.

Hayat Khan entered his home with his son when he found his daughter Raheema, 20, and his neighbour Shahbaz Khan, 28, along in the house.

Hayat Khan and his son Azmat Khan got furious and attacked the man and the girl with sharp edge instrument and seriously injured them. The victims died on the spot.

After the killings, the father and his son managed to flee.

SHO Ghulam Rasool Rajper said the incident was an honour killing case and both families belonged to Waziristan.

They police shifted the bodies to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and after legal formalities handed over their bodies to heirs. No case was registered till the filing of the report.

Young man found dead

In another incident police found the body of a young man in Juma Goth within the remit of the Ibrahim Hyderi police station on Thursday.

They said the body was recovered from an open drain situated in Jumah Goth in Bin Qasim area. The victim could not be identified.

SHO Naik Mohammad Jakhrani said that the victim was shot to the head.

He said the victim was wearing a shalwar kameez and appeared to be a Baloch.

The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical centre for medico-legal formalities and later shifted to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.
