ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led coalition government will give identity to the people of Southern Punjab in the same way as it had already done in case of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and by bringing reforms in FCR in FATA.

The prime minister was talking to ministers and parliamentarians hailing from Southern Punjab who called on him at the Prime Minister's House.

The lawmakers paid tribute to the leadership of PM Gilani on the passage of two resolutions with overwhelming majority by the parliament on Thursday.

They said that the resolution pertaining to the creation of new province called South Punjab was in unison with the aspiration of the people of the region which would mitigate their desperation they had been going through for a long time.

They also appreciated the political leadership of other parties for their support in the passage of the resolution expressing full confidence in the leadership of the prime minister as a democratically and constitutionally elected Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The premier deeply acknowledged the sentiments of the lawmakers and said that the PPP was in favour of the new province for which it had endeavoured to create consensus and the adoption of the resolution of South Punjab was the manifestation to that effect.
