LAKKI MARWAT, May 3: A man was killed and his two relatives sustained bullet injuries when their rivals opened firing on them near Manjiwala Chowk here on Thursday.

Anwar Kamal, an injured, told police that he along with his uncle Mamoor Khan and other relatives Saber Khan, Naseer Khan and Anwar Khan was going from Nar Mohammad Ghaznikhel village to the judicial complex when their rivals attacked them.

“Our rivals opened firing on us, killing Mamoor Khan on the spot,” he said, adding that Saber Khan and he sustained bullet wounds and were taken to Naurang Civil Hospital.

He nominated Burhanullah, Zakaullah, Imranullah, Rizwanullah and Zahid Khan in the FIR. A police official said that the incident was result of a blood feud.

Meanwhile, police launched an awareness drive on Thursday to educate people to get their vehicles registered with the department concerned.

Police displayed banners in public places asking people to avoid plying unregistered vehicles on roads.

An official said that people should possess registration documents of their vehicles and motorcycles to avoid facing any inconvenience. “The drivers, transporters and people from all walks of life should comply with traffic rules and laws,” he added.

PROTEST: The Association of Wapda Retired Employees threatened on Thursday to launch a protest campaign if their demand about giving jobs to their scions was not accepted till May 15.

In this connection, a meeting was held in the office of Pesco superintendent engineer in Bannu with association’s provincial president Mohammad Iqbal Khan in the chair.

The retired employees of Wapda from Lakki Marwat, Karak and Bannu districts attended the meeting. They said that scions of retired employees were deprived of their right of getting jobs in Pesco.

They threatened to go on hunger strike if their demand about recruiting their scions in Pesco was not accepted till May 15.
