QUETTA, May 9: Three men reportedly arrested from Lyari in Karachi and presented before the media as terrorists of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) are the students of Balochistan University who had been missing since January, the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons group has alleged.

The group’s chairman, Nasarullah Baloch, said that relatives of the suspects had filed a petition in the Balochistan High Court after their disappearance.

He said the names of Abdul Ghaffar, son of Abdul Jabbar Bugti; Shamsuddin Bugti, son of Lal Bakhsh Bugti; and Saifal Bugti, son of Ahmadan Bugti were also in a list submitted to the Supreme Court last week during hearing of a petition regarding the law and order situation in Balochistan and the issue of missing persons.

Mr Baloch said that earlier bullet-riddled bodies of missing persons were dumped in different areas of Balochistan and now after pressure from the Supreme Court the law-enforcement agencies were presenting them as terrorists of banned organisations. He appealed to the apex court and human rights organisations to take notice of what he termed a drama staged by Sindh police.
