ISLAMABAD, May 11: A young girl was shot dead in the rural area of the capital on Friday, the police said.

The victim was identified as twenty-year-old Asma Bibi, a resident of Darkala village.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the girl had been killed on the pretext of honour, allegedly by one of her uncles.

However, the family members informed the police that Asma left the house in the morning but did not return till noon.

While searching for her, they found the girl’s body lying in a nearby nullah.

The family then informed the police who reached the scene of the crime and shifted the body to a hospital for necessary legal process.

According to the police, the girl had received a bullet in her head which claimed her life.

The victim’s family was tight-lipped on the girl’s killing and only shared some information with the investigators.

They told the police that Asma was engaged and her father was working in Qatar.
