QUETTA, May 11: A police officer, who survived a bomb attack on Thursday, was gunned down in Shalkot area here on Friday night, officials said. DIG (operations) Qazi Abdul Wahid said Inspector Jalal Shah was going home when gunmen on a motorbike opened fire on him.“Shah received multiple bullet wounds and died while being shifted to hospital,” he said.

The assailants fled the scene after the attack.

The body of the slain officer was handed over to the family after post-mortem at the Bolan Medical College hospital.

On Thursday, the DIG recalled, a police party was targeted on the Qambrani road with a remote-controlled bomb in which a policeman was killed and three others, among them a civilian, were injured.

“Jalal Shah was sitting in one of the two police vehicles which were targeted,” he said, adding that the inspector had escaped the bomb attack.

An operation was launched to arrest the attackers.

CITIZEN KILLED: A man was shot dead near the Mastung DCO office on Friday night, sources said.

Unidentified attackers on a motorcycle opened fire on Mohammad Hussain in Thul Darya Khan area and escaped. Mr Hussain succumbed to injuries in a hospital.
