MUZAFFARABAD, May 13: The young Kashmiri migrants staged a rally on Sunday to pay tributes to Kashmiri mothers braving tragedies especially the killing of their children at the hands of brute Indian forces.

Coinciding with the World Mothers’ Day, the rally also drew attention of the United Nations towards its seemingly forgotten responsibilities to resolve the longstanding Kashmir issue and thus bring the sufferings of Kashmiris to an end.

“UNO: Wake up from deep slumber,” reads one of the two banners, carried by the participants of the rally. Apart from the banners, they were also holding colourful placards inscribed with different pro-freedom slogans.

“Our dream, freedom; our demand, freedom,” they chanted vociferously as they marched from Press Club to Garhipan Chowk through the main road which had thin traffic at the weekend.

Before the conclusion of the rally, some students also delivered emotive speeches, calling upon the UN to take serious notice of atrocities in Indian held Kashmir and play its role in bringing an immediate end to the human rights violations and black laws there.

The UN should implement its resolution of January 5, 1949 on Jammu and Kashmir in order to let the people of the disputed state decide their future by exercising right to self-determination, they said.

The speakers said that they also wanted to tell the world that the Kashmiri mothers were the lionhearted ladies who would not stop their children from struggling for

freedom in spite of the use of brute force by the Indian troops.—Staff Correspondent
