RAWALPINDI, May 14: Three police officials, suspended in connection with a rape case, were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment after a special judge rejected their pre-arrest bail petitions on Monday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) City Circle Taimoor Khan, Ratta Amral SHO Sub-inspector Jawad Shah and the then investigating officer Zafar Gondal were suspended after they were found guilty of delaying registering a criminal case against the rapist of a teenage girl.

The arrested policemen would be produced in the court of anti-corruption judge on Tuesday for remand custody.

A young daughter of a private security guard, residing in Ratta Amral area, was kidnapped on March 21 by one of her neighbours who later subjected her to sexual assault.

After having been freed by the culprit she narrated her ordeal to her parents who went to the Ratta Amral police station to get a case registered against the accused, but the police used delaying tactics.

The Supreme Court took notice of the delay in registration of the case and directed the Rawalpindi police to take strict departmental and legal action against the police officials concerned.

Following intervention of the Supreme Court, the then SP Rawal Town Malik Matloob Awan was removed from his posting, DSP City Taimoor Khan was suspended while the then SHO Ratta Amral Jawad Shah and duty officer Zafar Gondal were booked under the police order.
