ISLAMABAD, May 15: The city police arrested four persons, including a policeman from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for allegedly snatching an MNA’s car.
The land cruiser (Sindh BD-8624) of Nazeer Ahmed, a PPP MNA, was snatched from his son Ghulam Murtaza on Margalla Road, F-7, on May 5. Mr Murtaza complained to the Kohsar police that the culprits in police commando uniform asked him to produce the vehicle’s documents saying it seemed to be non-customs paid.
They boarded the vehicle and asked Mr Murtaza to drive ahead for verification of the documents by their officers. However, later they pushed Mr Murtaza out and drove off in his vehicle.
The police formed a special team under the supervision of SP (city) Mohammad Ilyas which succeeded in arresting four eprsons - Syed Mohsin Ali, Asim Ali Javed, Iram Sehar and Yasir Khan, an official of the KP police - which led to the recovery of the vehicle.
The police suspected that the gang was also involved in other vehicle-snatching incidents in Islamabad. The accused were produced before a local court which gave them in police custody for two-day physical remand.—Staff Reporter
