Nasir Jamshed ruled out of Sri Lanka tour

LAHORE: Fast-rising opener Nasir Jamshed was Wednesday ruled out of Pakistan's tour of Sri Lanka after fracturing a finger on his left hand.

The 22-year-old, who hit a brilliant one-day hundred against arch-rivals India in the Asia Cup in Dhaka two months ago, injured his finger during a club match, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said.

Jamshed, only named in the one-day squad for Sri Lanka, has been advised to take four to six weeks' rest by the medical team and the PCB said a decision on a replacement will be announced in due course.

Pakistan are to play two Twenty20s, five one-day internationals and three Tests on their tour of Sri Lanka starting early next month.

Pakistan announced separate squads for all three formats last week, with Mohammad Hafeez taking over as Twenty20 captain for the first time.

Misbah-ul Haq, who also lost his Twenty20 place, will lead the team in one-dayers and Tests.

Jamshed has known to be injury prone. He sat out in 2009 for six months due to injury to same finger. Later he contracted Dengue fever and was out indefinite. He is over weight and does not take care of his body. Problem is these people do not realize they are International Sportsmen and they are required to maintain a certain fitness level. Very disappointing.

Very unfortunate. But Misbah ul Haq should be the replacement (for T20s) as we already have sufficient openers in the remaining team.

I want to see how Pakistan performs in International match without Backbone Misbah Haq? He has saved enough umpteen number of times in last year and half.We are glad he has lost his place in T20 as our Sri Lankan team was looking for this opportunity.This Pakistan team can be bundled out for less than 100 number of times.

I think it is great that Pakistan has let out Misbah in T-20 Format. I think he should also be let out in one day format as well as he and younus are very slow out of the block and are excellant test players but for one day and T-20 i think Pakistan would be better off without Misbah and Younus.

Imran Nazir is the obvious choice to replace Nasir Jamshed.. Fawad Alam should have been preferred for a middle order slot in ODI and Tests. He is a better ODI and T20 player then Asad Shafiq, Faisal Iqbal and Azhar Ali, even Younus Khan on his present form.

Wel i guess imran nazir is the best choice to replace Nasir jamshed, Opner should replace by opners and about Misba, i belive he is a great player but let us to see how team performse without him i belive they will give us the best results
