KARACHI, May 20: A father gave his son a riding lesson when he galloped his mount to a second successive victory in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Aksir A, who had delighted the horse racing connoisseurs by powering colt Fakhr-e-Chanab to triumph on May 13, repeated the feat by partnering the same colt to a three-length victory over co-favourite World Class, ridden by his son Asad Aksir.

Days Inn finished third, beaten by neck, while Green Nip completed the frame among nine starters after Stall Wart Fighter was withdrawn.

Outsider four-year-old dark bay colt The Dictator lowered the colours of public fancy colt Asoor by two-and-a-half lengths to land the day’s feature event.

The Dictator kicked up speed at the bend and after overtaking Asoor maintained the lead in the home stretch to make amends. The winning horse was ridden by M. Rehan. Star Quest and Swell Victory followed the two horses in same order in a field of 10 horses.

Earlier, in yet another upset, long shot chestnut horse Salman Gold edged favourite Mr Khan by a length and three quarter to win the supporting race.

The other three favourites tipped by Dawn obliged punters registering fluent wins.

At the outset, Star Queen won the opener by getting the better of Over Flow by seven-and-a-half lengths.

Seasoned jockey Mohammad Essa guided James Bond to two lengths victory over Sher Dil to claim the fourth race.

Phenominal, a four-year-old bay colt, who had to be content with second place behind Mind Me in the last race, made amends by getting the better of Sugar Baby by four lengths to pick up spoils in the fifth race.

Trainer Mujahid Ali partnered Star Queen and The Dictator to end with a double.
