LAHORE, May 20: Technical staff of the Pakistan Railways loco shed has doubled the duration of their token strike, for what they, due to administration’s indifferent attitude towards their demands.
“We have been observing a two-hour strike for the last a week or so and the administration has not bothered to even contact us,” Loco Shed Mazdoor Union president Sarfraz Khan said after observing a four-hour token strike on Sunday.
He said that the workers would not allow any locomotive to roll out from the shed after May 28, not even for the Business Express, in case the demands were not met by then.
“Officers sit in air-conditioned rooms and enjoy all privileges and perks. We work under harsh weather conditions round the clock and are being denied our right. We have been given no raise since 1985, even our technical allowance has not been revised since then. Our medical facility has been curtailed and payment of TA, DA and GP funds to workers has been stopped for the last one year or so,” he said.
