LAHOREE, May 21: Lahore with three gold, two silver and as many bronze medals won the Punjab Karate Championship in Sahiwal, according to a report received here on Monday.

Lahore totalled 95 points to secure the top position. Faisalabad remained runners-up with 85 points winning two gold, two silver and two bronze medals. Hosts Sahiwal finished third with 70 points, claiming one gold, five silver and one bronze.

Results: Below 50kg: 1 Salman Naeem (Sahiwal); 2 Ali Abid (Sahiwal); 3 Shahbaz (Faisalabad) and M. Junaid (Lahore). Below 55kg: 1 M. Nasir (Bahawalpur); 2 Zafar Sahiwal; 3 Torab Khan (Sialkot) and Murad (Sahiwal).

Below 60kg: 1 Kashif Aslam (Lahore); 2 Waqar Khan (Sahiwal); 3 Muteen Asim (Sialkot) and Munir Gill (Sahiwal Blues). Below 67kg: 1 Mohammad Imran (Lahore); 2 Rizwan (Sahiwal Blues); 3 Aamir (Sahiwal) and Irfan (Bahawalpur).

Below 75kg: 1 Abdullah Butt (Sahiwal); 2 Umair (Faisalabad); 3 Mian Amir (Sialkot) and Awais Taj (Lahore). Below 84kg: 1 Mirza Rehan (Lahore); 2 Umair Sultan (Lahore Reds); 3 Abdul Ghaffar (Sahiwal) and Adil (Faisalabad).

Above 84kg: 1 Abdul Rashid (Lahore); 2 Azeem (Sahiwal); 3 M. Nayab (Faisalabad) and Akram Shakar (Bahawalpur). Individual Kata: 1 Shahbaz (Faisalabad); 2 M. Ramzan (Sahiwal); 3 Anees Ahmed (Sahiwal) and Sameer Ahmed (Lahore). Team kata: 1 Faisalabad; 2 Lahore; 3 Sahiwal.—Sports Reporter
