LAHORE, May 22: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday granted bail to Asif Mahmood, involved in the Rescue-15 centre blast.

The court allowed the bail subject to furnishing of bail bonds of Rs100,000.

It dismissed bail petition of another accused, Abid Akram.

On May 28, 2009, some militants had hit an explosive-laden van into the building of police emergency centre. At least 26 people, including police officials, were killed in the attack.

ESCAPE BID: North Cantonment police personnel foiled an escape attempt by a fraud case accused after the Lahore High Court dismissed his bail petition. A non-government organisation got a case registered against Abdul Majid on charges of misappropriating Rs700,000. The accused filed a petition for pre-arrest bail, but the court dismissed his petition.
