KARACHI, May 22: The Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority (KFHA) board of directors in a meeting held on Tuesday approved a revised master plan of the harbour and the KFHA Employees Service Rules 2012, Method of Recruitment and Organisational Chart.

The board meeting, which was chaired by Sindh Minister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgari, also approved health insurance facility for all KFHA employees.

As per recommendations of a committee constituted by the board to review the plan, the meeting was informed that a weigh bridge, a saw mill, an ice plant, a fibre glass

boat manufacturing plant, a fish meal plant and an oil dispensation station would be established in the Karachi fish harbour.

Besides, a river osmosis plant would also be installed to cater water requirement, said a KFHA statement.

Moreover, plots for state-of-the-art seafood processing plants had also been carved out, which would bring foreign investment in the country, the statement added.The board also approved the appointment of consultants for upcoming commercial projects. “The KFHA will appoint a chartered accountant firm for the audit of accounts of the authority.”

The meeting discussed the implementation on destructive nets whose notification would be issued shortly, it said.
