RAWALPINDI, May 23: Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) in collaboration with National University of Modern Languages (Numl) arranged a group painting exhibition depicting social issues through art.

As many as 21 students from Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), National College of Arts (NCA) and the Numl participated in the exhibition titled: ‘The role of artist in society’.

Renowned artist Zarar Haider Babri along with the RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed inaugurated the event.

More than 80 art pieces, comprising of calligraphy, photography, landscape, drawing, miniature art and collage work were put on display.

The medium of work was oil, water paint and pencil.

The aim of organising the event was to highlight social issues prevailing in the society besides depicting the culture of different regions.

The most remarkable thing about the exhibition was the participation of two ‘special’ female artists namely Tehmina and Ammara who attracted the attention of the participants by their creative work.

After inaugural ceremony, Zarar applauded the organisers and said that maturity will come in the work of talented young artists with the passage of time.

Waqar Ahmed said the RAC had fulfilled its promise of providing platform to the young talent of the region.

A large number of art lovers from the twin cities came to see the exhibition that would continue till May 26.
