KARACHI, May 23: A man recorded his confessional statement before a judicial magistrate on Wednesday that he had killed his wife to save his honour.

The man, Ghulam Sadaqat, who surrendered to the police on Tuesday after killing his wife, was produced before the court of a judicial magistrate (central) for remand on Wednesday.

However, the suspect confessed to have committed the crime before the court and said that the character of the victim was suspicious and he stabbed her to death in order to save the honour.

After recording his confessional statement under Section 164 of the criminal procedure code, the court sent the suspect to prison on judicial remand till June 5 and directed the investigation officer to submit a charge-sheet.

A case (FIR 244/12) was registered under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code on a complaint of the victim’s father at the Taimuria police station.
