Current political discourse for new provinces is more biased towards the division of Punjab on linguistic grounds rather than administrative grounds. This will never serve the largest interest to keeping the federation stable and intact.

Might work. If the people can be shown smaller is better, or they could control their own destinies. Local taxation would go farther in helping people.

Agree. And it is this ethnicity that has kept us from progressing since each ethnic group selfishly thinks only for itself and would fail to give up a single rupee even if it meant a hundred rupees for a different ethnic group or the rest of Pakistan. I just hope that this very same ethnic divisionsdo not result in Pakistan turning into another Somalia. May Allah give us taufiq to love each other for being muslims and/or for being Pakistanis and not for being North or South Punjabi, Sindhi, Baluchi, Pathan, Mahajir, Shia, Sunni, Berelvi, Deobandi, Christian,Hindu, etc. etc.

To keep on saying that no new province on the bases of ethnicity or languages seems absurd and unrealistic now. The existing 4 provinces are ethnic, than we have wasted at least 30 years,when we could have created new provinces for only the administrative needs. Unfortunately, ethnicity is deeply rooted in our society and it is a bitter reality,sooner we accept it is better.

Mr. Qaiser, Why not more province in Sindh. Karachi was also not part of the Sindh up to 1970. it was Capital of Pakistan. it should also be separated by Sindh. we are not slaves of Sindhi's. we want to be separate with them.

The analysis would have been complete if the erstwhile economist had also compared districtwise development in other provinces of Pakistan. Ad, the story would have been complete if he had the honesty to state an article of the Constitution which defines Pakistan. That article will need to be amended before any new province canbe created..
