ISLAMABAD, May 25: The people residing in the surroundings of I.J. Principal Road on Friday staged a violent protest against load-shedding, damaging pubic and private property, police said.

Over 300 residents of Sector I-10, its adjacent localities and Khayyaban-i-Sir Sayyed poured out of their houses and gathered at the road near Katarian. They blocked both lanes of the capital’s main artery by burning tyres and pelted the moving vehicles with stones. As a result, vehicles were stuck in worst traffic jam and several of them were damaged.

Shortly after getting the information the area police reached the spot, but failed to control the angry mob. Later, the city administration also reached there on the request of the police. The protesters were chanting slogans against the government.—Staff Reporter
