BADIN: National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza said on Saturday she discharged her responsibility with honesty and according to the Constitution in the matter of Prime Minister's qualification, and she was satisfied with her ruling.

She was speaking at a ceremony organised to distribute buffaloes among 100 rain-affected women in Tando Bhago with the assistance of United Arab Emirates Red Crescent. MPA Barrister Hasnain Mirza and the country manager of the social welfare organisation, Khalid Latif Qureshi, were also present.

The Speaker said she always discharged her responsibilities with honesty and the recent decision about Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was also made as per the Constitution.

She said the democratic government of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has undertaken a record development schemes in the constituency which included water supply, electricity and gas projects. While hundreds of schemes in education and health sectors have also been completed, she added.

Dr Mirza said the government worked hard to help the people affected by the devastating rains, and efforts for their rehabilitation will continue.

The speaker said the PPP government will not disappoint the people, adding that the people of Badin will support the party and will reject the opportunists once again.
