By casting aspersions on Dr. Afridi's character Pakistan is trying to justify his sentence and calm the criticism by western powers particularly the US the main benefactor of Pakistan. If Dr. Afridi was accused of sexual harassment why the police did not arrest him? What use it is to bring it out now. Why was he not tried by a proper court and not given a lawyer to defend the charges? What did the powers that be i.e. ISI had to fear from a public trial by proper court?

Where is the puzzle? One needs to be close to the militants to bring useful stuff to the CIA.

What Dr Afridi did was certainly illegal. It is illegal to accept a second job when you are already in the employ of the local gov. His act was certainly not against the interest of Pakistan. So, his punishment needs to be commensurate with his deed.

First Dr Afridi is convicted. Now he is subjected to character assassination. The man has done a service to the nation and the world by getting rid of Super Terrorist Osama Bin Laden yet he is being punished.

How can Pakistan, on one hand call Osama Bin Laden a terrorist and claim to be searching for him and telling USA to let them know if the US knew his whereabouts so Pakistan could go and arrest or kill him.

Musharraf, Zardari, Jilani and the current political leadership, the military and any and all people in power or responsiblity to fight terrrorists said that on the record….repeatedly and on every occasion. They ALL also denied that Osama was in Pakistan.

Now when one of it's good citizen helps USA find Osama, they imprison him for thirty three years while rapists, murderers and all kind of criminals are let free by the "so called" justice system of Pakistan.

And then Pakistanis wonder why they are a pariah nation. WOW!!

The 64K dollars question is how to overcome the tremendous loss of faith in vaccinations in the remote parts of the country. I guess the anti-vaccination camp is celebrating and claiming moral victory already. This author has correctly pointed out that the most unfortunate outcome of the debacle has been largely ignored by Pakistan & US alike.

I guess what the US means is it is ok for them to have hired spies in other countries but when it comes to a peace loving man like Dr. Fai, they put him in jail for fighting for human rights of the people of Kashmir.

This was a reckless and extremely irresponsible attitude to use medical profession as a cover for sucj an activity.
This has put the lives of thousands of children and the medical professionals working in that turbulant area.
and by the way, what state would allow their national to collaborate with foreign spy agency on their back, regardless of how common the objective is.

t is like Raymend David case, now Pakistan blaming evey thing on Afridi. The more Pakistan play with and mudding it self more. USA giving Pakistan face saving oppertunity. If US become serius then you will find how much our intellegence agencies were involved in keeping Osama. For God sake, O- Pakistan intelegence Agencies, now abondon the dirty game don not black mail the world through terrorism any more.
