CHARSADDA, May 28: The Tangi tehsil is without proper civic, health and education facilities, thanks to apathy of the successive governments.

The dwellers of the tehsil, including activists of political parties, civil society members, lawyers and traders, aired their grievances, while speaking at a forum held here the other day.

Those participated in the forum included JUI’s Haneefullah Hasrat and Akhtar Amin, lawyers forum president Aftab Khan advocate, Wajeed Ali advocate, PPP-SB provincial organiser Mukhtiar advocate, PML-N youth wing’s Arif Khan, Mazdoor Kisan Party’s Nisar Khan advocate, Javed Hasnian of PPP-S, Tangi bar’s former president Javed Khan advocate, and PML-Q’s Sher Ali, and others.

They expressed concern over the problems being faced by the people of this backward area, but regretted that no one was ready to listen to their grievances.

They said the tehsil headquarters hospital Tangi lacked proper medical facilities, as there were no specialist doctors available. They said due to non-availability of life saving drugs the patients were forced to visit either DHQ hospital Charsadda or Peshawar. They said the available staff didn’t bother to come to the hospital. They said the dispensers were performing jobs of doctors.

The locals said, the X-Ray and other machines were out of order and there was dirt everywhere in the hospital. They said there was also no lady gynecologist at the medical centre.

They regretted that there was no proper educational institution in the region due to which future of their children was bleak.

They demanded establishment of a branch of the Islmia Collage in the tehsil as the elders of Tangi had donated 600 acres of land for the college.

The participants also expressed concern over the law and order situation, saying robberies, target killings, bomb blasts, kidnappings, had become a routine matter. The also came hard on the performance of police, saying the police had failed to protect lives of the common people.

They also expressed concern over the unscheduled and prolonged loadshedding.
