LAHORE, May 29: US Consul General Nina Maria Fite has urged students to learn from their failures and mistakes.

Ms Fite was speaking at the 16th Graduation Ceremony, 2012, of American School and International Academics on Tuesday. She said everyone had dreams and one should work hard to achieve his or her dreams.

About the term ‘American dream’, Ms Fite said in America people dreamt that what they were unable to achieve, their children would achieve. Sharing her memories, she said her grandfather had lost his business and worked as a milkman during hard days. “He had a dream that his children would get higher education and today one of the grandchildren of that milkman is representing the US in Pakistan as Counsel General in Lahore,” she said.

Former education minister Imran Masood, who is also the patron-in-chief of Young People’s League, donated Rs50,000 for the establishment of the office of Young People’s League. He said the objective of this forum would be to unite youth of Pakistan on one platform irrespective of their cast, colour and creed for strengthening democracy in Pakistan and to secure the future of the young generation of Pakistan. — Staff Reporter
