KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that police system would be strengthened to improve law and order in Karachi.

He made the statement while briefing the media after a    meeting on law and order at CM House on Thursday.

He said that sensitive areas of the city have been distributed into three zones where police and rangers will hold joint patrolling for effective control of the situation.

The interior minister said that at the meeting it was decided that from now onwards no person will be able to rent out any premises to any other person without police verification of the tenant in the province under section 144 Cr PC.

He said a system is being evolved to collect details of    terrorism and bhata (extortion) cases separately for taking action against the culprits involved in such cases.

Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Interior Minister co-chaired the meeting on law and order    which was attended among others by all concerned officials.
