ISLAMABAD: Portfolios of Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar and Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar were  switched, DawnNews reported.

According to an official notice issued by the government, Mukhtar will take charge of water and power ministry. Similarly, Qamar will hold the portfolio of defence ministry.

The notification was issued after an official approval of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Reports of a major change in the federal cabinet had been circulating due to the poor management in the water and power ministry.

Speaking to DawnNews, Mukhtar vowed to overcome the ongoing power crisis in the country.

Restructuring of the ministry is also expected after the change.

Earlier in April, government had made some major changes in the federal cabinet as some newly appointed ministers were handed their portfolios, while some existing ministers were re-assigned new ministries.
