PESHAWAR, June 1: A full court reference was held here on Friday to praise the services of senior-most puisne judge of Peshawar High Court Justice Attaullah Khan, who would retire on Saturday (today).

Those who spoke on the occasion included the chief justice, PHC Bar Association’s president Abdul Lateef Afridi, deputy attorney general Mohammad Iqbal Mohmand and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advocate general Asadullah Khan Chamkani.

“The honourable judge was driven by a rare sense of duty and ceaselessly worked hard. He made his presence felt through a large number of brilliant judgments on variety of subjects, which sufficiently reflected on the understanding and devotion to the duty,” the chief justice said.

He added that Justice Attaullah Khan’s command over judicial diction, clarity of mind and expressions, diligence in application and treatment of facts and law arising in the hearing of cases, was a shining experience for them when sitting on the bench with him.

The chief justice said that though it was expected from a judge that on all levels he should administer justice in accordance with the law while being least influenced by an extraneous considerations, but in present setup of society it sometimes seemed difficult. —Bureau Report
