ATTOCK, June 2: The jail administration suspended four officials on Saturday for torturing an under-trial prisoner (UTP). A departmental inquiry had also been initiated to probe the incident, it has been learnt.

Head warden Murad Ali and three wardens Imran, Shehzad and Shahid were reprimanded for manhandling a UTP named Mohammad Faisal.

The injured prisoner’s brother has moved an application to the court for withdrawal of his complaint against the jail administration as he was satisfied after suspension of four jail officials besides initiating a departmental inquiry. However, he pleaded the court should ensure impartial inquiry of the incident.—Correspondent
