KARACHI, June 3: An elderly woman was shot dead and her husband and a son were wounded in the Gulbahar area on Sunday evening, police said.

Area DSP Rustam Khattak said that initial investigations suggested that the incident took place inside the victims’ home over a family dispute.

He said the elder son of the victim woman, Naseeb Bibi, 60, opened fire on them during a quarrel over some domestic issue. The woman’s son Taj Mohammad and husband Nazar Mohammad were wounded.

The dead and the wounded were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination and treatment. The area DSP said the suspect fled the scene and the police were waiting for the statements of the wounded to know the exact details of the incident.

Man commits suicide

A man hanged himself in his home in Moosa Colony within on Sunday.

Police said the man, identified as Hilal, 22, hanged himself from the ceiling fan. He was a drug addict and on Saturday his father had scolded him over his addiction, the police said.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
