KARACHI, June 3: A radio channel of the city police will begin test transmission as soon as the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority allocates frequency to it, it emerged on Wednesday.

The Sindh IT department is executing the project, which is supposed to be completed by this month, at a total cost of around Rs29.10 million. The project is part of the Annual Development Plan 2012.

A transmission tower has already been installed, while work on construction of a studio is in final phase, according to Sindh Police information technology director Tabassum Abbasi.

The “FM Police Radio Channel” to be housed in Block E of the Central Police Office will air news, awareness, music and other entertainment programmes for public. Interviews with senior officers, discussions and transmission of weather forecast, traffic diversions and other important information will be part of the transmission.
