AMNESTY: The Akkakhel ‘peace committee’ has announced a general amnesty for all militants affiliated with any organisation if they surrender unconditionally and give an undertaking about good conduct in future.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the committee’s chief Haji Gul Meeran, the militants have been given the deadline of June 10 to surrender.

After the date, the committee will take action against all militants living in Akkakhel and impose a fine of Rs5 million on anyone sheltering outlaws. Houses of such people would also be demolished, the statement warned.
