ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday concluded the proceedings of the Rawal lake pollution case. The court ordered the pertinent civic agencies to submit a certificate ensuring that the water of the lake was not injurious to public health, DawnNews reported.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the suo-moto case of Rawal lake’s pollution.
“Poisonous water should not be supplied to the people,” Chief Justice remarked. “Punjab’s Environment Minister has never visited Rawal Lake,” he added.
Additional Advocate General Punjab said that there was only one court hearing the environment related cases in the province. The chief justice showed displeasure over it and said that there was no implementation of environmental laws in the province.
