I don;t know the extent of illegal organ transplant operations in India but I am sure such un-ethical practices exist in India also. In India the medical profession is no longer a respected one. It has become a business with doctors becoming professional sharks and ripping of the patient to the maximum extent.Gynaecologists routinely suggest Caeserian section to women so that they can charge exorbitant fees. Same is the case with Dentists, Heart Surgeons and Orthopaedic surgeons.Of late the Courts have started sentencing Doctors conducting sex-determination tests.

It is indeed sad when people are exploited and we all know that demand always finds supply. Why not force this trade out into the open - set up a transplant centre under govt., control. Organ recipients, could pay a fee, regulated by pure demand and supply, to the government, which would pass on 75% in long term bonds to the donors, keeping the balance for its running costs and pre donation assessment and post donation care for the donors. Of course, surgeon's fees and hospital costs would be paid by the donee. This would control exploitation of the donors, which would be everyone's main concern. Of course, rules are needed to ensure that donors and donees are in good health and well looked after.
