KARACHI, June 6: Three policemen and a waiter of a teashop were wounded in a grenade attack near the Risala police station on Wednesday night.

Police said the Risala police station was the target of the attackers, who fired a grenade from a launcher at the police station which hit the teashop at the entrance to the station.

SDPO Zahid Hussain claimed that the grenade was fired by suspected Lyari gangsters.

Policemen Naveed Riaz, 30, Rahim, 25, and Barkat, 30, and teashop employee Tariq were wounded in the attack.

The victims were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where doctors said Barkat was in a critical condition.

DSP Hussain further said that the police were collecting evidence while further investigations were under way.
