LAHORE, June 9: The governor’s and chief minister’s houses and ministeRsspent much more than their budgetary allocations for the outgoing financial year, indicating how they honoured their claims of simplicity.

And more has been proposed for them in the proposed Punjab budget for 2012-13.According to the budget documents, Rs160.190 million were earmarked for the Governor’s House in the 2011-12 budget. But it spent Rs181.219 million. Its proposed allocation in the next budget is Rs186.968 million.

The Chief Minister’s Secretariat (including ministers) budget for 2011-12 was Rs414.973 million. But it spent Rs522.823 million. Its proposed allocation for 2012-13 is Rs407.052 million which, as per the tradition, is likely to be revised during the next fiscal.

The VIP Flight Maintenance and Operation Cell which serves the chief minister spent Rs78.032 million as against Rs71.253 million reserved for it in the 2011-12 budget. Its proposed budget for the next year is Rs76.653 million.

An amount of Rs119.634m was spent for Aviation Flight as against Rs79.268m for it in 2011-12. The proposed budget under this head is Rs81.694 million, and this carries ample chances of upward revision.

The oil charges (planes, helicopters, staff caRsand motorcycles) of the chief minister’s secretariat have been raised to Rs35 million as against the allocation of Rs9 million in 2011-12. The proposed amount for 2012-13 is Rs39 million which is even higher than the revised budget for 2011-12.

An amount of Rs7 million was earmarked for entertainment and gifts in 2011-12. But the chief minister’s secretariat spent Rs23 million. The figure proposed in the next budget is Rs8 million.

The allocation for the chief minister’s secretariat repaiRsand maintenance in the 2011-12 budget was Rs10 million but it spent Rs31.520 million. The allocation in the next proposed budget is Rs11.826 million.

The budgetary allocation, 2011-12, for the transport of the secretariat was Rs9 million but Rs30.50m were spent. The allocation in the new proposed budget under this head is Rs11 million.
