KARACHI, June 10: Top seed Aqeel Khan have a comfortable sailing over wildcard Bakhtiar Memon of Hyderabad as main round of fourth Maroof Trophy ranking tennis tournament commenced at the DA Central Club on Sunday.

Aqeel won the battle 6-4, 6-0 to advance into last eight where he meets Saad Noor Sumar, who accounted for another wildcard Owais Ahmed from Hyderabad 6-1, 6-1 in the other match.

Men’s singles: First round: Aqeel Khan bt Bakhtiar Memon 6-4, 6-0; Saad Noor Sumar bt Owais Ahmed 6-1, 6-1; Adil Kohari bt Nomi Qamar (walkover); Vinod Das bt Fahad Anwar 3-2 (retired); Omer Shahid bt Sikander Hayat 6-2, 7-6; Hassan Siddiqui bt Nawab Muzaffar 6-3, 6-3.

Ladies singles: First round: Sara Ahmed bt Hajra Nadeem 6-1, 6-3; Neha Khan bt Kainat Zulfikar (walkover).
