ISLAMABAD: Real estate tycoon Malik Riaz, who is involved in a controversy over ‘unlawful’ deals with Dr Arsalan, son of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, is likely to return to the country on Monday.
“I have talked to Malik sahib today and he told me that he would return on Monday,” said Mr Riaz’s lawyer Zahid Bokhari.
Talking to a private TV channel, Mr Bokhari said his client was under medical treatment in London and his doctors had advised him to stay in the hospital and not to travel because of his bad health.
“However, Malik Riaz has decided otherwise and will come to the country and most probably he will appear before the Supreme Court soon,” the lawyer said.
He said his client had great respect for the court. Therefore, he decided to be in the country for the hearing of the cases.
Some TV channels said Malik Riaz was to leave London on Sunday night and he would be in Islamabad any time on Monday morning. The lawyer’s statement ended speculations that Malik Riaz would not return to the country soon because of fears of possible court action against him.—Syed Irfan Raza
