The need for Pakistan to have an identity was indeed fulfilled by the greatest of maestros like Mehndi Hassan Sahib, the Sabri brother, Noor Jahan, Nusrat Fateh Ali and fortunately, this tradition is still being carried forward by our living legends of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and mecuriablly and inimitable Abida Parveen among various other artists.
We, as Pakistani's salute them for the recognition and honors they brought to Pakistan - and pray to Almighty Allah to have mercy on the souls of our departed icons and to correctly guide the living ones.
