KARACHI, June 13: Two rickshaw drivers were shot dead in as many incidents in the city late Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

They said that Malang Khan, 35, was killed when gunmen said to be riding a motorcycle opened fire on his rickshaw near Daigh Wali Building within the remit of the Orangi Town police station.

The victim was a resident of Zia Colony Metroville, SITE and was travelling in his rickshaw when he was targeted, the police said.

The victim suffered multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.

In another similar incident, Gul Mir Khan was shot dead near Gharibabad within the remit of the Sharifabad police station.  Area DSP Wajahat Hussain said that the victim was a rickshaw driver.

Man shot dead, friend wounded

A man was shot dead and his associate wounded near Saghir Centre on Rashid Minhas Road on Wednesday evening, police said.

They said that Abdul Razzak and Ghulam Din, residents of Bilal Colony, were passing Al-Mohsin orphanage near Saghir Centre on a motorcycle when two men also riding on a two-wheeler tried to intercept them.

Ghulam Din, who was the pillion rider, got off the two-wheeler and started running in a bid to save his life. However, he was chased by the assailants, who shot him in the head.

The assailants also fired at Razzak, said area DSP Saleem Akhtar Siddiqui.

Both victims were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where Ghulam Din was pronounced dead on arrival while Razzak was admitted for treatment.

Meanwhile, three persons were

wounded in a grenade attack in the Landhi area on Wednesday night, police said.

They said that the incident occurred near Hospital Chowrangi in Landhi’s Muslim Town where unknown men riding a motorcycle hurled a hand-grenade at a gambling den and rode away.—Staff Reporter
