RAWALPINDI, June 15: The Airport police have registered a case against the brother of a former deputy speaker of the National Assembly for allegedly grabbing a commercial plot.

Ms Sabira, wife of Mohammad Yaqoob, a resident of Dhoke Gangal, complained to the Airport police that her husband owned a commercial property valuing Rs100 million at Raja Riffat Shaheen Road, which had been grabbed by Imtiaz Khokhar alias Taji Khokhar.

Mohammad Yaqoob in his statement recorded by the police said Mr Khokhar allegedly occupied the two kanal commercial plot and started constructing a hotel there. However, when the owner obtained a stay order from the court of law, Mr Khokhar promised to pay him the market price of the property provided he withdrew the case.

After withdrawing the stay order, when the owner asked Mr Khokhar to make the payment he refused and restarted constructing the hotel building.

Mr Yaqoob said the accused also sent armed men to his house who fired gunshots on the CCTV cameras installed around his house and threatened him of dire consequences.

He said since the incident occurred a complaint was lodged with the police but they did not register a case.

However, after the gunmen of Mr Khokhar fired gunshots outside his house on Thursday, his wife called the Airport police who registered a case and started investigation.—Staff Reporter
