Those who claim that Pakistan has great talent in the realm of show business should watch our TV programmes closely. There are at least a dozen actors who are doing multiple on-camera jobs and sadly don’t excel in any of them. To gauge the veracity of this claim, watching a dance competition show on a local TV network would suffice. It’s not the quality of the contestants that’s in question here (we shall leave that topic for some other time) but the selection of the panel of judges which boggles the mind. The panel comprises actor Faisal Qureshi, actor Fahad Tunio and film star Resham.

While Resham has shown her pirouetting moves in some films (though that too doesn’t qualify her to adjudicate a dance competition) the choice of the other two actors, even if one of them is not a permanent judge, raises many questions. In fact some of the dancers on the show can teach a step or two to their judges. Perhaps we’ve got it all wrong and haven’t yet seen the real dancing talent of the above-mentioned actors. Perhaps Faisal Q is Pakistan’s answer to Fred Astaire and there’s a Prabhudeva hidden in Fahad T.
