Two die on road in Charsadda

CHARSADDA, June 18: Two passengers were killed and nine others wounded in a road accident near Malka Dher here on Monday.

Police said a truck hit a Suzuki pick-up on Mardan Road near Malka Dher killing two people and injuring nine others. The deceased were identified as 18-year-old Omair and five-year old Qasim Jan of Sar Dheri. The injured included Asif Khan, Fazal Rabbi, Akhtar Gul, Akhtar Muneer, Sher Zamin, Abubakar, Mohammad Gul, Mohammad Adil, Maqsud Jan and Noorul Huda.

The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar in precarious conditions. Police have registered an FIR and started investigation. — Correspondent

Man shot dead in Swabi

SWABI, June 18: One person was killed and three others were injured in two separate incidents here on Monday, police said.

In Chota Lahor city, Walid Khan attacked his neighbour Riaz Khan near his house and opened fire. As a result, Riaz was killed on the spot. Later, brother of the victim registered an FIR against Walid in the city police station.

In Sheikh Jana area, three people, including two children, were injured in a grenade attack on the house of a businessman here on Monday. Nawar Ali told police that he was sleeping when unidentified men hurled a hand grenade inside his house on Sunday night and as a result he along with his two children received injuries. — Correspondent

Karachi killings condemned

KARAK, June 18: ANP district president Usman Khattak has condemned the bloodbath in Karachi and blamed the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for unrest in the port city.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said that ANP workers and Pakhtuns were being targeted in Karachi.

He said that ANP leader Liaquat Bangash was ruthlessly killed in Karachi to punish him for being a true Pakhtun.

The ANP leader demanded of the Sindh government to take steps to bring normalcy to Karachi and added that security should be provided to the people from other parts of the country living in Karachi. He also demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to take measures to extend moral support to Pakhtuns in Karachi. — Correspondent

PML-Q leader joins PTI

PESHAWAR, June 18: A local leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Q and a former nazim of Union Council Hazar Khwani Haji Fazal Ilahi on Monday resigned from his party and announced joining Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf. He made the announcement at Peshawar Press Club in presence of PTI leader and former provincial minister Iftikhar Khan Jhagra.

Other PTI leaders including Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, Shah Farman and others were also present on the occasion.— Bureau Report
