BB’s birth anniversary observed across Sindh

HYDERABAD, June 21: PPP activists and supporters observed the 59th birth anniversary of their leader Benazir Bhutto across the province on Thursday by donating blood and holding Quran Khawani.

In Hyderabad, the party held its main programme in the premises of district council. Sindh Fisheries Minister Zahid Bhurgari and number of other office-bearers of the party donated blood at a camp in the council’s premises.

Mr Bhugari said their leader had sacrificed her life for the sake of democracy and followed in the footsteps of her father. The party workers were paying her tribute by observing the anniversary in a simple manner.

On Wednesday night, party activists donated blood and a number of activists led by People’s Students’ Federation leader Lala Rizwan cut a cake outside the press club on Thursday night and also lit earthen lamps.

In Khairpur, PPP activists and leaders donated blood at donation camp set up in the Government Naz Pilot Secondary School.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abass Baloch and private secretary to chief minister Mazhar Manganhar also donated blood at the camp.

The DC said that donated blood would be sent to various hospitals. A camp was also set up in central jail where many prisoners donated blood to pay tribute to Benazir Bhutto, said jail superintendent Muzzafar Alam Siddiqui.

In Mithi, a large number of lady health workers and PPP activists donated blood at camps set up in the civil hospital and basic health unit Dano Dhandhal. Food was distributed among the poor and Quran Khwani was held for the departed soul.

In Mirpurkhas, PPP MPA Shamim Ara Panhwar cut a cake to mark the birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto at a camp set up in the civil hospital premises.

She paid tribute to her leader and said she sacrificed life for the rights of the poor. She said that PPP had always respected the judiciary.

In Nawabshah, the party organised its main programme at H.M. Khoja auditorium where PPP workers and office-bearers donated blood to Thalaessemia Centre.

Quran Khwani and fateha were also held on the occasion.
