Two held for killing man

ISLAMABAD, June 21: The Shahzad Town police claimed to have arrested two persons, including a woman, for allegedly killing the brother-in-law of the woman.

On May 9, Mohammad Riaz Hussain complained to the police that his brother Imtiaz Hussain, a taxi driver, left the house after receiving a phone call but did not return. The police found the body of the taxi driver in a green belt at Shakrial near Zia Masjid the same night and registered a murder case against unidentified persons.

During investigation, the police found his mobile phone missing but after a few days it was activated with a different SIM. As a result, the police traced a man and picked him up. During interrogation, he told the police that he had got the phone from his brother.

When the police arrested the brother and interrogated him, he confessed to killing the taxi driver in connivance with the victim’s sister-in-law. It was revealed that the alleged killer had developed illicit relations with the victim’s sister-in-law.

However, on May 9, Mr Imtiaz came back early - at 4pm - and found his sister-in-law with a stranger in an objectionable conduction. In order to conceal their illicit relations, they attacked him and repeatedly hit his head with an iron rod. — Staff Reporter

RTMA to get over Rs37m

RAWALPINDI, June 21: The Punjab Highway Department on Thursday agreed to provide Rs37.395 million to Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) for including its land in the Chandni Chowk Flyover.

The highway department informed the RTMA through a letter that it would pay the amount next month. Rawal Town Administrator Saif Anwar Jappa had demanded the land price from the department last year.

The RTMA has vacated the land of two petrol filling stations at Benazir Bhutto Road for the construction of Chandni Chowk Flyover. These petrol filling stations were located on the land near Benazir Bhutto Hospital. The total land of the two petrol filling stations was two kanals and 10 marlas and half of the land would be used for the construction of service road and the remaining would go for the shopping plaza. After getting the assurance of land price, the RTMA has decided to provide alternate space on rent to the owners of the petrol filling stations adjacent to RTMA office at Liaquat Bagh. — A Reporter
