ISLAMABAD, June 21: An MPhil student here on Thursday committed suicide after failing to pass the exam in three attempts, police said.

However, the circumstantial evidences raised suspicions as the victim’s hands were found tied separately in opposite direction with tables.

Basharat Khan, 29, a native of Mardan, was doing MPhil from Air University and lived in a hostel at G-10/1. He had been in distress for the last a couple of weeks due to the failure in the exam.

Khan’s colleagues broke into his hostel room after getting no reply from inside and found him hanging from the ceiling fan.

The Ramna police reached the spot and shifted the body to hospital. The autopsy conducted on the body did not rule out the possibility of suicide, sources in the hospital said, adding, however, a final opinion would be given on the basis of chemical examiner’s findings.

Meanwhile, three teenagers were killed in a road accident at Nilor.
