Qamar Zaman Kaira

Qamar Zaman Kaira is the Minisiter for Information and Broadcasting

Born on January 5, 1960 in the district of Gujrat, Pakistan, Kaira obtained his early education from his home town and got a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the University of the Punjab, Lahore.

A prominent student leader in 1970, he was a vocal proponent of freedom of speech and democracy during military rule and was elected Nazim of the Union Council Gujrat.

In 2002, he was elected Member National Assembly as a member of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party. He was appointed as Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas in March 2008, and has served as Minister for Information since March 2009.
