KARAK, June 24: A man and his wife were killed when a car they were travelling in rammed into an oil tanker on Indus Highway near Mithakhel village here on Sunday.

Locals rushed to the spot after the accident and retrieved the injured couple from the car. They were taken to the district headquarters hospital but they died before getting any medical treatment. The ill-fated couple was going to Peshawar from Bannu.

They were identified as Hamidullah and his wife Sidra, residents of Kakki area of Bannu.

The local people arrested the tanker driver who was trying to escape from the scene and handed him over to the police.

Meanwhile, six motorcyclists going in a wedding procession were critically injured when their bikes crashed into each other near Alwargi on Indus Highway.

They were taken to the OGDCL health centre and after first aid doctors referred them to district headquarters hospital.
