RAWALPINDI, June 25: To avoid inconvenience during VVIP security duty, the Rawalpindi police have proposed establishment of a helipad near the house of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in the Sungral village of Gujar Khan, it has been learnt.

The helipad will be located next to the residential portion of the Sungral house while police staff of wireless wing would be deployed there some time on Tuesday.

The prime minister’s house spreads over 18 kanals of land and is at a distance of over 45 kilometres from Rawalpindi that needed to cover 360 security points if the VVIP movement takes place by road.

A few yards area of the prime minister’s private residence is located in the limits of Jatli police while the remaining falls in the jurisdiction of Sohawa police. While his brother, Imran Ashraf’s nearby house is located in the limits of Tuman police, Chakwal.

A senior police official said keeping in view the long distance between the Prime Minister House and the private residence of Mr Ashraf, deployment of security personnel on the VVIP route would be more difficult.

“Therefore, it has been proposed that a helipad should be built there on an urgent basis to avoid inconvenience,” he added.—Staff Reporter
