NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, June 25: An inspector of police, Mehdi Raza Talpur, was attacked and injured near Bhirya bypass on Monday. The inspector was going to Khairpur when he came under attack.

He sustained injuries and approached Bhirya police station to register an FIR against the accused, but SHO refused to do so.

Talking to reporters, he said while patrolling as SHO Bhirya City a couple of days ago, he saw some people in a car who were drunk.

He said that when he told them to stop, they introduced themselves as Feroze Gul Laghari, leader of Sindh People’s Students Federation Sukkur division, Mazhar Ali, Zakir and others.

They were taken to police station but after that he was he was transferred to police lines and an FIR was lodged against him and four other policemen.

He said he was on interim bail granted by the sessions judge of Naushahro Feroze. Today, he attended the court where around 25 people, including Feroze Gul, were present.

After adjournment of his bail confirmation date, he was returning to Khairpur, when a group of people attacked and injured him.

He said he approached Bhirya police station for registration of FIR, but SHO Saeed Ahmed Bhayo refused to do so.

He said that he immediately moved the sessions court which ordered registration of FIR. He alleged that two mobile phones and Rs22,000 were snatched from him.

When contacted, Sindh People’s Students Federation Sindh president, Sohrab Khan Mari, said that Mehdi Raza had many rivals and that SPSF leaders had nothing to do with Monday’s incident.
