PESHAWAR, June 26: The ten-time world record holder in martial arts Ahmed Hussain has demanded of President Asif Ali Zardari to help sponsor his sports activities.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday Ahmed Hussain said in different countries martial arts was known with different names but he had named the game in Pakistan as ‘Pakeedo’ and had made world records ten times in it.

“I have made the record to put my name in Guinness Book of World Records and got the 10th certificate very recently,” he said while showing the certificate to media persons.

He called upon the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and governor to support him financially and provide sponsorships for taking part in international events, saying that he would bring more laurels.

Mr Hussain said that despite bringing laurels to the country for several times, there was no proper attention from the government to encourage him with cash prizes as it was difficult to get preparation for making world records.

He lamented that cricketers had been provided luxurious facilities but other talented players of armature games like martial arts were living in miserable conditions, adding sportsmen could not perform better unless supported and encouraged by the government.
